Manifestos Concert, Times Square

Kairos Production had the distinct pleasure of working with the talented team at Kelson Productions to produce a concert in the heart of Times Square for the artist Charles Gaines, entitled Manifestos 4: The Dred and Harriet Scott Decision. This was Charles Gaines’s first public art project, and the work unfolded in three parts over the course of two years across three sites — Times Square, Governors Island, and the banks of the Ohio river in Cincinnati. The performance in Times Square was accompanied by a large-scale sculptural work produced by Gaines, and was performed twice over two days on July 13 & 14, 2022. Kairos and Kelson provided a mobile stage, audio and lighting, and a large LED screen to display compelling images created for the concert. Our production was described by the Times Square Alliance as “The most well produced event they’ve ever had,” we simply take a bow and give our thanks for the opportunity to do good work at “The Crossroads of the World.”
